Tool Assisted Speed RunThis is my latest TAS of Super Metroid, and it improves the last 100% TAS by about 2 minutes and 30 seconds of realtime, or about 1 minute and 50 seconds ingame. It uses a slightly altered route devised by hero of the day, which involves running through parts of norfair without a suit, and putting of wavebeam until after Ridley. The new route saved over 10 seconds.Other major improvements are the torizo skip which saves around 21 seconds, and the glitched mother brain battle wihch saves around 15 seconds. All the rest of the time is saved by using better room strategies, having a higher general level of optimization, and optimizing door transitions for realtime.NOTE: Optimizing doors for realtime might often look weird and slow, jumps and such before and through doors are made to reduce the time it takes from entering a door until you get into the next room. For those interested below is a detailed explanation on all the improvements made over the last run, you should preferably read this before asking questions.http://ia311219.us.archive.org/3/items/SuperMetroid_TAS_36_Cpadolf/100pTAS.htmTool Assisted - these games are played using a emulator at super slow speeds and save states. The goal is to provide entertainment by showing off game glitches and beating the game as fast as possible.read more:http://tasvideos.org/WhyAndHow.html- Takes damage to save time- Aims for fastest time- Aims for 100% completition- Abuses programming errors in the game- Genre: Action/Adventure Special thanks goes to hero of the day for being a great help in the making of this run, JXQ for making a very good run for me to improve upon and Saturn for making a good youtube encode to make this run justice.

Dec 5, 2008 - You don't see a message when you play back the movie file (the messages would only be visible if I did the run in realtime).

Dec 5, 2008 - How do you show the movie without the slowdown? Does it just automatically fix itself?
Cpadolf0 Says:
Dec 5, 2008 - Without what slowdown, what I use when I record the movie?Well when I record a movie what I do is basically combining a string of controler input into one "movie" file, so I don't actually record a movie as in moving pictures. Therefore I can later play up all the gathered input at once without any slowdowns, and use a built in function in the emulator to then record a avi.
