Skeeter Davis (Dec. 30, 1931 - Sept. 19, 2004), while best known as a pioneer female vocalist in country music, had this million-selling record in 1963. "The End Of The World" peaked at number two in both the U.S. country and pop charts, placing in the Top 10 for the year in both fields, and reached number 4 on Billboard's rhythm and blues chart. While other artists have covered this song, Skeeter Davis' sad, haunting, and beautiful version remains the definitive one.

Dec 3, 2008 - Very nicely done! It's amazing that I don't have a new copy of this tune. I do, however possess vinyl of "What Does It Take(German pressing, at that)," "Why So Lonely?" and "She Sings, They Play" with NRBQ. Needless to say those titles the covers of which were shown need to be in my collection.
