Dec 3, 2008 - Thanks for your reply, i do agree that the rate of fuel injected via a mechanical pump is linear with rpm and load, i also agree that the "accelerator" wouldnt have to be pushed down as far when running a hydrogen/diesel mix, which in turn does mean less fuel being injected, BUT what i really want to know is has anyone modified a mechanical governed diesel fuel pump to compensate for the running of hydrogen to gain maximum economy without loss of torque and horsepower? I have ideas in mind....

Dec 3, 2008 - Just my 2 cents on your Q. All engines do not burn 100% of the fuel, so your thinking is right with you get more power, more of the fuel is burned, more power means you don't have to push the accelerator down as far to get going which in turn means less fuel being used. I don't have the manual on your particular engine but you could put smaller injectors in and I am sure there is some type of metering device with the mech. fuel injection that can be adjusted.
