Professor Alan Ebringer included this in his presentation for kickas.org in June, 2003. The suggestion is that they have a common cause--the bacterium "Acinetobacter calcoaceticus" and both are thus autoimmune (mad cow disease is not caused by prions).Ebringer (http://www.kcl.ac.uk/schools/biohealth/research/pharmsci/groups/analytical/ebringer.html) has agreed to eat any good cut of steak from a certified "mad" cow; he believes in and is dedicated to his work, and hopes it will result in new and effective therapies for MS and perhaps control the hysteria over the epidemic that never was!
