Dec 4, 2008 - lol an islander fan can not say anyone sucks right now. Islanders suck, they are awfulWho's gonna carry the offensive load? Doug Weight? lol Islanders are gonna suck for a long time

Madarox1 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - If you do not understand why the Isles signed Weight. SHUT UP! They are trying to develop the young players, and this guy can teach them. They only signed Weight for a year retard. He may be old but if him and Guerin have something left, why not let them try? And if he's worth by the trade deadline even better. LEARN HOCKEY BEFORE YOU SHOOT YOUR MOUTH OFF LOSER...

mitchhedbergrip Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - they signed weight because they couldnt get anyone else. Yea, he'll help their young players out, but it's not like he's the missing peice to this team. I doubt he brings anything at the deadline anyway. Him and Guerin were great together in edmonton, but that was 10 years ago. He's old and washed up and won't add much. As I said before, Islanders are gonna suck for a long time. Before this years draft, Okposo was their only good prospect.

mitchhedbergrip Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - In about 4 years when some of these new prospects like Bailey, and Toews come through, then we can talk. I was pretty scared you guys would draft Filatov, Schenn, or Wilson, but Bailey? he's good, but they traded down and still took him to high when they could have got guys they can build their team around.

Madarox1 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - I know we'll stink for quiet awhile. SO LIKE I WAS SAYING IF WEIGHT HAS SOMETHING LEFT LET HIM TRY. Right now the Islander's are a small market team. They are going to continue to be a small market team until a new stadium is built. I don't always agree with the decisions Snow and Wang make... Working with Wang has become a vicious cycle. You have to bottom feed for awhile before you can get good... Not every team is as lucky as the Pens and has Crosby fall into their hands.

Madarox1 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - And we only signed him for 1 YEAR. That can't hurt...

mitchhedbergrip Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - thats the thing, weight doesn't have anything left. Mark Streit might help your offense, but he is awful on D. The pens were awful when they got crosby, but the NHL kinda handed him to them anyway. The islanders will always be small market, new arena or not. Ive met some die hard islander fans, and I can respect the loyalty, there just aren't many of them. Signing Streit and Weight might make them decent, which might mean they don't draft Tavares or Hedman next year, and that'll hurt them.

mitchhedbergrip Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - if they wanted a full youth movement, they should have eben content with being completely awful and draft top 3 next year

robtk14 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - I tried looking for the Islanders after the regular season ended, but I couldn't find any of their games? Why was that?

Madarox1 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - That's where you're wrong... once the Islanders get a new arena... things will change. Wang is only in this for that whole "Lighthouse" idea...And about with youth movement... how much do you think Wang knows about hockey?

Madarox1 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Not sure... take off your homer glasses and you might've realized that the rangers didn't go anywhere either.

Madarox1 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Plus their GM is their former back-up goalie... bring back Neil Smith please.

Madarox1 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - You never know... he just might have some fuel left in the tank.

robtk14 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Everyone knows making the playoffs, especially to the 2nd round and losing to a talented team, is a hell of a lot better than not making the playoffs at all. And it's a lot better than being the bitch team of the Atlantic division. Like a decent team before talking shit chief.

Madarox1 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Ok, so where's your trophy?

mitchhedbergrip Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - Since the islanders and devils are the small market teams in the area, I'll compare them the the devils. Devils got a new arena, and their attendance got a lil bit better at the start, but it didnt keep up and again they were near the bottom in attendance. a new islanders arena won't do much either. I just don't think there are enough islander fans out there. They give awesome ticket deals and cool plans and still, nobody is going. A new arena would be nice for them, but attendance wont go up.

Madarox1 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - People pay money to go to nice arenas and they go to see winning teams...(IMO) Charles Wang is just treading water until he can get the new arena. What I mean is that he doesn't want to spend money on the team until he knows for sure that an arena is coming. Once/if a stadium is built he will either sell the team or actually spend money on quality FA's. Right now FA's don't want to play here as to the condition of the arena and the Isles aren't a particularly good team.

mitchhedbergrip Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - A new arena might help attendance for a lil bit as people go to check it out, but just like the devils, as the season went on, the attendance dropped back to normal. The same would happen for the islanders, whose attendance has been even lower then the dedvils prior the prudential center

robtk14 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - What's your reason for thinking the Rangers suck? Sure I may have agreed with you before the lockout, but the Rangers are back as a dominant team. Start getting used to it kid.

Madarox1 Says:

Dec 4, 2008 - It's a fun rivalry! Don't take it personally or anything but I did kind of make the video for Islander fans.I can honestly care less about the Rangers EXCEPT for when they play the Isles. Right now I'm focusing on this whole "rebuilding" situation that they are doing. As an Islander fan I'm happy that they finally have a plan! And "kid" may refer to an 8 or 9 year old but I'm kind of a teenager...
